APASA (Institute of Families with Mentally Handicapped persons of the Montsià county) is an institution formed by family and tutors of mentally handicapped persons treated in any of our services.
Our objective is to improve the quality of life of handicapped persons and their families procuring infrastructures and support to them and improving the quality of our services by means of cooperative work between families and professionals in order to acquire qualified technical levels.

APASA is listed on the Direcció General d'Entitats Jurídiques with number 567.
APASA was listed on the Register of Associations of the Generalitat (the autonomous Catalan Government) as a foundation with number E-00716 on 10 June, 1999.
APASA was also listed on the Spanish National Register of Associations with number 28122 and designated as a public-interest organization by the Spanish Ministry of the Interior on 10 June, 1999.
In 2001 the Amposta City Council awarded APASA an Special Mention of the Premi Amposta, a local award. On 20 February, 2003 the Generalitat awarded President Macià Plaque to APASA.
On 7 July 2003 the Generalitat recognised APASA as a representative association to mentally handicapped persons in Catalonia.
